Students from low-income communities—the vast majority of whom are students of color—face enormous systemic barriers to attend and complete college. This lack of opportunity is one of our nation’s greatest injustices, and it has only widened over the past few decades despite massive reform and investment.
To understand and solve this national challenge, we need not look further than the post-secondary transition for students from low-income communities.
Just 9% of students in low-income communities graduate from college.
A college degree impacts earning potential and access to life opportunities.
We don’t have the talent that we need to fuel a growing workforce and the diverse leadership that we need to thrive as a country.
While there are often opportunities available to students at the top of their class, OneGoal prioritizes students whose college prospects are extremely limited. Our cohorts enter the program with an average of 2.7 GPA, a 876 SAT, and a 15 ACT score.
To make college graduation a reality for all students, we need an in-school solution that is both rigorous and scalable. OneGoal offers an innovative and proven solution at a low cost.
OneGoal enlists excellent teachers already in public schools to become Program Directors.
We provide Program Directors with a rigorous, results-based curriculum, technology, training, and coaching to implement our three-year model with a group of students (Fellows).
Program Directors support the same group of Fellows beginning in their junior year of high school and bridging the gap through their first year of college.
