About OneGoal


In 1970, 6% of students from low-income communities completed college. Today, that number is a mere 9%. Anchored in this belief, we have one goal: college graduation. Period. At OneGoal, we believe we must move the needle on this most critical challenge facing our nation especially given it is solvable. We believe all students have what it takes to earn a college degree, and should have a real opportunity to fulfill their potential. Our Executive Director – Houston will join a national movement changing the trajectory for our country’s most underserved youth during a unique window in time:

  • By 2017, OneGoal will serve more than 9,300 students (“OneGoal Fellows”) in 180 schools in six states across our country.
  • OneGoal’s teacher-led, in-school, three-year college access and success model is reversing the odds. While nationwide, only 9% of kids in low-income communities graduate from college, 82% of OneGoal Fellows enroll in college and 78% are persisting or have graduated from college.
  • Since 2013, OneGoal has grown in staff size by an average of 50% and with over 100 staff members, is embarking on “Phase III” of our growth stage, anticipating additional growth to new regions.

The Person


As our second Executive Director in Houston, you will join a team that is already marching towards a clear destination – reaching more fellows and ensuring at least 60% graduate from a post-secondary institution. Looking back on your time as leading OneGoal’s second biggest region, you will be most proud your footprint included:

  • Setting an extraordinarily bold vision that demonstrated the vast majority of Houston’s students are college bound
    • Result: An updated vision, values and strategic plan for OneGoal Houston during your first 12 months that positions 60% of our students to graduate from a post-secondary institution. Your team of 14 is fired up and charging hard towards ambitious goals while having fun.
  • Transforming the mindset of school and district partners across Houston to share your “one goal” of giving kids opportunities where there were none
    • Result: OneGoal partner schools consistently ask for more cohorts – and are willing to pay for our OneGoal program. By 2022, the partnerships you and your team have created blow way beyond just reaching just 5,000 kids.
  • Thoughtfully stewarding community champions including your Board of Directors and funders across the city to support your region’s expansion
    • Result: Your highly engaged 15 member Board of Directors and funders you’ve secured raise $3M annually by your third year – a recipe that ensures your continued success + expansion across Houston.
