About OneGoal

In 1970, 6% of students from low-income communities completed college. Today, that number is a mere 9%. Anchored in this belief, we have one goal: college graduation. Period. At OneGoal, we believe we must move the needle on this most critical challenge facing our nation especially given it is solvable. We believe all students have what it takes to earn a college degree, and should have a real opportunity to fulfill their potential. Our Director of Corporate + Foundation Relations will join a national movement changing the trajectory for our country’s most underserved youth during a unique window in time:

  • By 2017, OneGoal will serve more than 9,300 students (“OneGoal Fellows”) in 180 schools in six states across our country.
  • OneGoal’s teacher-led, in-school, three-year college access and success model is reversing the odds. While nationwide, only 9% of kids in low-income communities graduate from college, 82% of OneGoal Fellows enroll in college and 78% are persisting or have graduated from college.
  • Since 2013, OneGoal has grown in staff size by an average of 50% and with over 100 staff members, is embarking on “Phase III” of our growth stage, anticipating additional growth to new regions.

The Person

You fiercely believe – and your work has demonstrated your belief – in marshalling the resources necessary for all students to earn a postsecondary degree and the life that comes with it. The Director of Corporate + Foundation Relations is a member of OneGoal’s National Development Team (NDT), which is responsible for raising national revenue and ensuring the support of regions to reach their revenue goals.

As the Director of Corporate + Foundation Relations, your mission is to adopt and manage a portfolio of 25 corporate and foundation donors and prospects, totaling $2.6 million in annual revenue. You will grow the national foundation and corporate prospect pipeline and ensure that OneGoal is strategically leveraging the resources of the corporate and foundation community to achieve its organizational goals. You will do this by:

  • Setting and executing a multi-year vision for the foundation and corporate revenue streams, including strategies and campaigns to reach both annual and multi-year revenue targets.
  • Establishing clear systems and processes to effectively manage a diverse portfolio of prospects and donors.
  • Influencing and motivating new and existing external stakeholders to invest in our work resulting in foundation revenue growth of at least 30% by the end of FY19; and creating the conditions necessary to attract corporate funding.

Though the Director of Corporate + Foundation Relations is likely to see himself/herself/themselves in the following examples, these are not requirements. These examples are designed to help you determine if this opportunity aligns with your own passion and purpose.

It begins and ends with the research.

  • You are a relentless seeker of information, driven by what motivates people to give of their wealth, work and wallop. You are hungry to understand who the people and organizations are nationally who will be compelled by OneGoal, our students and our results.
  • You won’t stop until you have overturned every possible opportunity to identify new networks of supporters by leveraging what you already know about our existing supporter base – and by dreaming big about the possibilities.

You find beauty in punctuation, have a Thesaurus page bookmarked and love writing a good story.

  • The written word is your tool to influence others to achieve outcomes:
    • Your emails are always clearly written, succinct when appropriate, include relevant context and drive others to take the action you need to get things done.
    • Your letters of intent strike the balance between concise and comprehensive, and your grant applications are a model for others.
  • You care deeply about the power of words and consider writing a craft. A typo? You? As if.

You are a strategic visionary – who puts it into practice.

  • You are driven by a bold vision of what’s possible, and can quickly and effectively build momentum around that vision across diverse constituencies.
  • You can also break down a complex vision into clear, tangible, and measureable milestones for yourself and others. You see the big picture, but you thrive in the gradual pursuit.

You are organized and have a keen attention to detail.

  • Things don’t fall through the cracks with you because you understand what’s at stake. You’re proactive in establishing personal systems and processes to ensure your ability to keep track of high volumes of information, to easily access it and to use that information to make data-informed decisions.
  • You are a strong planner and are constantly assessing your priorities to manage self/up/out on diverse projects, against competing deadlines and around unanticipated requests. This allows you to be responsive to the needs of others and solve problems as they arise.

  • Bachelor’s degree (Required)
  • At least 2-4 years development experience, specifically grant writing (Required)
  • College access and/or success program experience (A Plus)
  • Proven track record of achieving ambitious goals and creating effective systems (A Plus)
